TermDefinition
Phenotype The outward expression of the genotype
Genotype The genetic constitution of an individual E.g. eye colour (Bb)
Heterozygous When a pair of genes are different. E.g. brown eyes & blue eye (Bb)
Homozygous When a pair of genes are the same. E.g. same eye colour gene from both parent (BB).
Recessive gene When a gene is not expressing itself.
Dominant gene Gene when working normally and expressing itself in the organism
Alleles Alternative forms of genes. Most genes have two alternative forms
Locus Position of a gene on a chromosome
Gene Portion of a chromosome controlling the development of a particular characteristic.
Gamete A sex sell. Stores 26 chromosome
F1 generation The first filial generation
