| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Ribosomes | Protein synthesis - The joining of amino acids together in a chain to form a protein. |
| S1 Phase if cell cycle | Synthesis Phase. Second stage of interphase. DNA synthesis. A vital process for cell division and is highly regulated. S phase is about 5-8 hours |
| G1 Phase of cell cycle. GAP 1 Phase. | First stage of interphase. The growth phase. Synthesis of enzymes and nutrients that are needed later on for DNA replication and cell division. cells produce the most proteins. |
| G2 Phase of cell cycle. GAP 2 Phase. | Third and last part of interphase and is the shortest of 2-4hrs. Rapid cell growth and protein synthesis preparing for mitosis. Needed organelles and proteins necessary for cell division are produced. |
| Interphase | Is the resting phase. G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase all take place. With DNA and Protein synthesis occuring as well as Celk growth take place. |
