| account number | the special number a bank gives to an account |
| currency | money in bills and cash |
| deposit | the act of putting money in an account |
| deposit slip | a piece of paper used to record the amount of money put into an account |
| joint account | a checking account for two or more people |
| less cash received | the amount of money kept out when making a deposit |
| signature card | a card you fill out and sign when you open an account |
| single account | an account for one person |
| balance | the amount of money in an account |
| canceled check | a check the bank has marked paid to show you can NOT use that check again |
| checking account | a banking plan that lets you pay your bills, daily spending money |
| minimum balance | the lowest amount of money you can have in your account with out getting penalty (fee) |
| service charge | a fee you pay the bank for taking care of your money and account |
| balance forward | the balance from the page before in the register |
| check register | an record of your transactions of you banking account |
| check stub | the end of a check that you keep as a record |
| bank statement | the banks record of your transactions |
| beginning balance | the amount of money in your account at the beginning of the time period |
| closing date | the date the bank statement is made out by the bank |
| ending balance | the amount of money in your account at the end of the time period |
| outstanding check | a check you have written that has not been cashed |
