Appreciation | increase in monetary value. |
Asset | Property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies |
Asset Allocation | an investment strategy that aims to balance risk and reward |
Bond | an agreement with legal force |
Capital | Wealth in the form of money or other assets owned by a person or organization |
Certificates | an official document attesting a certain fact. |
Coupon | a voucher entitling the holder to a discount for a particular product |
Coupon Rate | yield paid by a fixed-income security |
Depreciation | a reduction in the value of an asset with the passage of time, due in particular to wear and tear |
Diversified Portfolio | a portfolio constructed of investment products with different risk levels and yields |
Dividend | a sum of money paid regularly (typically quarterly) by a company to its shareholders out of its profits |
Face Amount | Sum of money for which an insurance cover is obtained |
Fair Market Price | he price at which the property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller |
Holder | a device or implement for holding something |
Issuer | a person or company that supplies or distributes something |
Maturity Date | the date on which the principal amount of a note, draft, acceptance bond or other debt instrument becomes due |
Mutual Funds | a kind of investment that uses money from investors to invest in stocks, bonds or other types of investment |
Portfolio | a range of investments held by a person or organization |
Principal | denoting an original sum invested or lent |
Prospectus | a printed document that advertises or describes a school, commercial enterprise, forthcoming book, etc., in order to attract or inform clients |
Sales Load | a sales charge paid by mutual fund investors to the brokers or agents who sell the fund to them |
Share | a part or portion of a larger amount which is divided among a number of people, or to which a number of people contribute |
Shareholder | an owner of shares in a company |
Stock | the goods or merchandise kept on the premises of a business or warehouse and available for sale or distribution |
Stock Appreciation | An increase in the value of a stock |
Stock Price Index | a measure of the change in the average prices of company shares over time |
Yeild to Maturity | the total return anticipated on a bond if the bond is held until it matures |
