| Term | Definition |

| Spores | environmentally resistant cells that are capable of developing into adults without fusing with another cell and that develop only when conditions are favorable |
| Angiosperms | Flowering plants whose seed plants that have flowers and whose seeds are enclosed and protected by fruits. |
| Cotyledon | the leaf of the embryo of an angiosperm |
| Dicots | angiosperms that have two cotyledons in the seed |
| Gymnosperms | Non flowering plants whose seeds are exposed and not protected by fruits. |
| Monocots | angiosperms that have one cotyledon in the seed |
| Bryophyte | Early land plants that are small, non vascular, and seedless such as moss. |
| Pteridophytes | Evolved after Bryophytes. They developed vascular tissue, which is specialized tissue that could transport water, minerals, and other resources needed by the plants for growth and photosynthesis. |
