| abiotic factor | Describes the non-living part of the environment, including water, rocks, light, and temperature |
| biotic factor | Describes living organisms in the environment, including animals, reptiles, insects, marine animals, and primates etc. |
| biosphere | The part of the Earth where life exists |
| ecology | The study of the interactions of living organisms with one another and with their environment |
| ecosystem | A community of organisms and their biotic environment |
| community | All the populations of species that live in the same habitat and interact with one another |
| population | A group of organisms of the same species that live in a specific geographical area |
| habitat | The natural environment of a particular species of organism where they find food, shelter, and protection |
