abiotic factor Describes the non-living part of the environment, including water, rocks, light, and temperature
biotic factor Describes living organisms in the environment, including animals, reptiles, insects, marine animals, and primates etc.
biosphere The part of the Earth where life exists
ecology The study of the interactions of living organisms with one another and with their environment
ecosystem A community of organisms and their biotic environment
community All the populations of species that live in the same habitat and interact with one another
population A group of organisms of the same species that live in a specific geographical area
habitat The natural environment of a particular species of organism where they find food, shelter, and protection
