Cell Division
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What happens during Interphase? | The number of chromosomes doubles. (nuclear membrane and cell membrane) |
| What happens during Prophase? | The nucleus disappears. The spindle connects to the opposite end of the cell. (spindle bridge) |
| What happens during Metaphase? | "Middle". The pairs of chromosomes line up in the center of the cell and attach to the spindle. |
| What happens during Anaphase | The spindle pulls pairs of chromosomes apart , single chromosomes move to the opposite ends of the cell. (Active phase) |
| What happens during Telephase? | The nuclear membrane reappears around the single set of chromosomes at opposite ends of the cell |
| What happens to produce the Daughter Cells? | The parent cell membrane pinches in, and the cytoplasm divides to create 2 identical daughter cells. |
| List the phases of cell division. *hint: IPMATC | Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, Daughter Cell |
