Respiratory System Function

Lungs Two organs responsible for inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide.
Respiratory System Body system that inhales oxygen and removes the waste, carbon dioxide. Functions with the circulatory system.
Oxygen Gas used in respiration to make ATP.
Usable Energy ATP; an energy-rich molecule
Chemical Energy Glucose; an energy rich-molecule
Homeostasis Maintaining internal balance. Similar meaning to negative feedback and dynamic equilibrium.
Dynamic Equilibrium Maintaining internal balance. Similar meaning to homeostasis and negative feedback.
Negative Feedback Maintaining internal balance. Similar meaning to homeostasis and dynamic equilibrium.
Solar Energy Energy from the sun.
Pneumonia Infection caused by pathogens which cause the lungs to fill with fluid.
Cystic Fibrosis GENETIC DISEASE that which cause the lungs to fill with fluid (mucus).
Mitochondria Organelle responsible for the process respiration. Produces ATP.
Carbon dioxide Gaseous (gas) waste that is released or exhaled from the human body.
Circulatory System Body system that pumps oxygen & glucose using the heart, blood vessels and blood. Functions with respiratory system.
