MacBeth Act 5 Review

At the beginning of Act 5, why is the doctor and the nurse observing Lady Macbeth? Lady Macbeth is observed because she is going through a phase of sleepwalking.
What is Lady Macbeth acting like she’s doing in the opening scene? Lady Macbeth is acting like she is washing off metaphorical blood from her hands.
What does the doctor say Lady Macbeth needs more than himself? The doctor states that Lady Macbeth needs divine/god/religion/moral help, not a doctor.
According to one of the Thanes, what motivated the soldiers that Macbeth commands? Macbeth’s soldiers are motivated by fear.
How many soldiers does Malcolm and the English army bring? The English army brings 10,000 soldiers.
What does Malcolm command every soldier to do in order to camouflage them? Malcolm tells the soldiers to cut down a tree limb and hold it in front of them.
What is the shriek that Macbeth hears before the battle begins? The shriek is Lady Macbeth meeting her death.
What does Macbeth metaphorically compare life to on page 115? A walking shadow A brief candle A tale told by an idiot
What does one of Macbeth’s soldiers report to him that enrages him? The trees were moving.
How is Macduff able to harm Macbeth, despite the witches’ prophecy? What is the medical term that is used to describe the nature of his birth? Writing prompt Macduff says that if Macbeth surrenders, they will place him in a cage on display like an animal at a zoo. After, they would hang a sign that reads, “come see the tyrant”. A tyrant is a harsh, abusive ruler.
At the end of the play, how does Malcolm explain the death of Lady Macbeth? Is there another possible way she died? It is thought that Lady Macbeth committed suicide; however, there are theories that the doctor kills her.
