Organization

Levels of Organization in life

TermExample/application
Atom Hydrogen is part of water. The tree in my backyard is made up of atoms.
Molecule Glucose is a molecule that plants make. Water is a molecule that helps me stay alive .
Macromolecule Animals use lipids to store energy. DNA helps code for the proteins in my body.
Organelles A prokaryote does not have membrane-bound organelles. My cells have cell membranes, but not cell walls.
Cell Plants have eukaryotic cells, while bacteria are prokaryotic. I have blood cells that help transport materials in my body.
Prokaryote Bacteria are prokaryotic. I get sick when prokaryotes, like bacteria, enter my body.
Eukaryote Kingdom protista has only eukaryotes. My cells are eukaryotes, which allows them to accomplish complex tasks.
tissues Animals have many different tissues that do specific tasks. The tissues in my brain allow me to think .
Organ Frogs have an organ called a cloaca. My skin is an organ that helps my body maintain homeostasis.
Organ system Plants have an organ system called the shoot system. I have an organ system called the digestive system which helps me to get energy from my food.
Organism The leaf cutter ant is an organism. I am an organism.
Population A coral reef ecosystem depends on the population of coral. There is a population of rats near my house.
Community A population of bees and flowers make up a community. The population of trees, ants, lizards, and birds make a community in my backyard.
ecosystem A coral reef ecosystem contains many different communities that rely on the coral. My neighborhood is an ecosystem.
biosphere mars might have a biosphere. I live on a biosphere of the planet Earth.
