Living things and the environment

Environment An organisms living and non living surroundings
Habitat An environment that provides things a specific organism needs to live grow and reproduce
Biotic factors The parts of an organisms habitat that are living or were once alive
Abiotic factors The parts of an organisms habitat that are non living
Organism A living thing species
Species Group of individuals that are genetically related and can breed to produce fertile young
Population Group of individuals that are genetically related and can breed to produce fertile young.
Community All of the populations of different species that live in the same area and interact with one another
Ecosystem All the living things in an area interacting with all of the non-living parts of the environment.
Ecology Study of how living organisms interact with each other and with their environment.
Ecologists The scientist who studies ecology
