Define inheritance The passing of traits from parents to offspring.
Define Genes segment of DNA on a chromosome or a chromatid that controls a particular trait.
How do genes appear on homologus chromosomes and why? genes appear on a chromosome in pairs because they need to go through the stages of mitosis.
Define allele an alternate expression of a gene expressed by large and small letters.
How is an allele expressed? LARGE and small letters
how many alleles are there for each genotype? Why? 2 alleles, 1 for dominint and 1 for recessice
Define genotype The actual genetic makup of the organism.
Define phenotype Physical description of trait based on genotype
What is the principle of dominant and recessive? You have both dominint and recessive but you can only see dominant.
How are dominant and recessive traits shown in a genotype? How ypu express yourself.
What is the difference between parental and filial group? parental=wrinkled seeds filial=rounded
Define Punnett Square Used to predict the resultsof a cross without actually crossing the traits.
