Scientific study of the interactions between organisms and environment
| Term | Definition |

| Population | a group of individuals of the same species living in an area |
| Community | a group of populations if different species in an area |
| Ecosystem | the community of organisms in an area and the physical factors with which those organisms interact |
| Landscape | is a mosaic of connected ecosystems |
| Biosphere | is the global ecosystem - sum of all the planet's ecosystems and landscape |
| Climate Change | a directional change to the global climate that lasts three decades or more |
| Dispersion | the pattern of spacing among individuals within boundaries of the population |
| Ecology Niche | the specific set of biotic and abiotic resources that an organism uses in its environment |
| Mutualism | an interspecific interaction that benefits both species |
| Disturbance | an event such as storm, fire, or human activity that changes a community, removing organisms from it and altering resource availability |
