Solvent The substance that does the dissolving
Osmotic/turgor pressure The pressure of water on the membrane of the cell caused by osmosis.
Isotonic The same concentration as another solution or surroundings
Impermeable A solute cannot pass through the membrane
Solute The substance that gets dissolved in a solution
Equilibrium When there is no net movement of particles
Hypotonic Lower concentration than another solution
Semi-permeable Some types of solute can pass and some other types cannot pass through
Solution A solution homogeneous mixture of two or more substances
Concentration gradient The difference in concentration level between two substances
Hypertonic Higher concentration than another solution or surroundings.q
Permeable A solute can pass through the membrane.
Diffusion The movement of particles from high concentration to low concentration.
