Bed A piece of furniture for sleeping on
Computer An electronic machine that can store, organize and find information, do calculations and control other machines
Air conditioner A machine that cools and dries air
Mirror A piece of special flat glass that reflects images, so that you can see yourself when you look in it
Bin A container that you put waste in
Chair A piece of furniture for one person to sit on, with a back, a seat and four legs
Door A piece of wood, glass, etc
Picture A painting or drawing, etc. that shows a scene, a person or thing
Fireplace An open space for a fire in the wall of a room
Stove A piece of equipment that can burn various fuels and is used for heating rooms
Sofa A long comfortable seat with a back and arms, for two or more people to sit on
Cupboard A piece of furniture with doors and shelves used for storing dishes, food, clothes, etc.
Books A set of printed pages that are fastened inside a cover so that you can turn them and read them
Cushion A cloth bag filled with soft material or feathers that is used, for example, to make a seat more comfortable
Rug A piece of thick material like a small carpet that is used for covering or decorating part of a floor
Window An opening in the wall or roof of a building, car, etc., usually covered with glass, that allows light and air to come in and people to see out; the glass in a window
Shelves
Clock An instrument for measuring and showing time, in a room, on the wall of a building or on a computer screen (not worn or carried like a watch)
Stereo Using a sound system that has two separate speakers so that you hear different sounds from each; produced by a system of this type
Map A drawing or plan of the earth’s surface or part of it, showing countries, towns, rivers, etc.
Table A piece of furniture that consists of a flat top supported by legs
Plant A living thing that grows in the earth and usually has a stem, leaves and roots, especially one that is smaller than a tree or bush
Dresser A large piece of wooden furniture with shelves in the top part and cupboards below, used for displaying and storing cups, plates, etc.
