What are the 3 branches of the Aortic Arch? Brachiocephalic, Left Common Carotid, Left Subclavian
Where does the abdominal aorta begin? At the level of the 12th thoracic vertebra (passes through the aortic hiatus)
Where does the aorta terminate? At the level of the 4th lumbar vertebra
What does the aorta bifurcate into? right and left common iliac arteries
What does the external iliac artery turn into? Common femoral artery (CFA)
What does the CFA divide into? Superficial Femoral Artery and the Profunda Femoris Arteries
What does the superficial femoral artery become? Popliteal artery
Where is the Popliteal artery located? Behind the knee
What does the Popliteal artery terminate into? Anterior tibial, Posterior tibial, and peroneal arteries
What does the Popliteal artery initially bifurcate into? Anterior Tibial Artery and Tibioperoneal Artery
What does the tibioperoneal trunk bifurcate into? Posterior tibial and peroneal arteries
What does the anterior tibial artery pass through? Interosseous membrane
what does the anterior tibial artery become? Dorsalis pedis artery
What does the posterior tibial artery terminate into? Medial and Lateral plantar arteries
Which lower extremity artery descends along the medial aspect of the fibula? Peroneal artery
Which artery runs on the lateral side of the lower leg? Peroneal artery
What does the Peroneal Artery terminate into? Branches that communicate with the posterior and anterior tibial arteries
What is another term for internal iliac arteries ? Hypogastric arteries
What arteries supply the pelvic organs? Internal iliac arteries
What arteries continue distally to supply lower extremities? External iliac arteries
What is the inguinal ligament? it is the location where the external iliac artery becomes the CFA
Which artery courses behind the knee in the popliteal fossa? Popliteal artery
Which artery courses distally, passing though the adductor canal? Superficial femoral artery
