QuestionAnswer
what is photosynthesis ? used by plants, transforms light energy glucose " plants food"
What is the equation for photosynthesis? carbon dioxide + water --> glucose+ oxygen or 6CO2 + 6H20 --> C6H12O6 + 6O2
where does photosynthesis take place? the chloroplast
What is the stomata? tiny pores in leaves where carbon dioxide enters and oxygen leaves
what is the stroma? The inner fluid portion of the chloroplast that plays hosts to the light reactions of photosynthesis
What are thylakoids? interconnected membranous sacs suspended in the stroma
What is the Calvin cycle? it uses the products of the light reactions ( ATP and NADPH)to power the production of sugar from carbon dioxide
What is g3p sugar ? is the product of the Calvin cycle. It is a 3-carbon sugar
What is carbon fixation? the conversion process of inorganic carbon (carbon dioxide) to organic compounds (carbon based compounds) by living organisms. can help reduce the concentration of Caron dioxide in the atmosphere
What is the light spectrum ? the full range of radiation
What rays have the largest wavelength ? radio waves. has the lowest energy
What rays have the smallest wavelength? Gamma rays. has the highest energy
what are autotrophs? organisms that generate their food
what are the granum ? where thylakoids are concentrated in stacks
what are the light reactions? where chlorophyll in the thylakoid membranes absorb solar energy which is then converted to the energy of ATP and NADPH
what are wavelengths? The distance between the crests of two waves near one another
Why are most plants green? Plants absorb mostly blue-violent lights from the sun which causes them to reflect the green color

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
