Golgi bodies stacks of flattened sacks the processing packaging, storage center of the cell.
Endoplasmic Reticulum a series of fluid filled canals that serve as paths of transport in the cell (Can be smmoth or rough)
Cytoplasm the watery material lying between the cell membrane and nucleus
Nucleus a round structure that serves as the contol center for the the cells metabolism and reproduction
Nucleolus one or more dense granular bodies that are the site of ribosome production
Nuclear envelope the membrane that surrounds the nucleus
Cell membrane a selectively permeable membrane that seperates the cell from its outside environment, contols what comes into and out of the cell.
Cell Wall found only in plant cells, it is a rigid wall that gives the cell shape and protection, found right outside the cell membrane
Chloroplast found only in plant cells, this is the site of photosynthesis in the cell, contains grana and stoma
Lysosome Found mostly in Animal cells, they are small sacs that contain strong digestive enzymes that break things down
Mitochondria called the powerhouse of the cell, this is the site of cellular respiration where energy is released from food in the form of ATP.
Cytoskeleton made of microtubules and microfilaments that serve as framework for the cell and give it support
Cilia short hairlike projections on the surface of cell that serve for cell movement
Flagella Long whip like projection that helps cell move
Vacuole Plants have 1 large central one, animals have a few, they serve as storage sites
