| Binge eating | is characterized by binge eating without subsequent purging episodes. |
| Bulimia nervosa | is an eating disorder characterized by binge eating followed by purging. Binge eating refers to eating a large amount of food in a short amount of time. |
| Fad diets | diet that a large population follows for a time period and then it dies out. |
| Food allergy | abnormal immune response to food. The signs and symptoms may range from mild to severe. |
| Food sensitivities | is a detrimental reaction, often delayed, to a food, beverage, food additive, or compound found in foods. |
| Gluten | a protein composite found in wheat, barley, rye, and all of their species and hybrids (such as spelt, kamut, and triticale). |
| Medical nutrition therapy | is a therapeutic approach to treating medical conditions and their associated symptoms via the use of a specifically tailored diet devised and monitored by a medical doctor physician, registered dietitian, or professional nutritionist. |
