Digestive system

Digestion The breakdown of food into small particles
Ingestion The intake of food
Absorption The movement of digested food into the blood stream
Egestion The removal of undigested food
Canines Teeth in front of the premolars that rip and tear food.
Molars Flat back teeth that grind food
Incisors Teeth between the canines that are used for cutting.
Herbivore Eats only plants
Carnivore Eats only meat
Omnivore Eats plants and meat
Carbohydrate Breaks down to glucose
Protein Breaks down to amino acids
Fats Break down to glycerol and fatty acids
Assimilation Digested food moves from the blood into the cell
