| low-power objectives | further magnifies the image 4x |
| high-power objective | furth magnifies the image. from 10x-43x |
| nosepiece | holds the objectives and can be turned |
| body tube | mainain the correct distance between the eyepiece and objectives. usually 25cm. |
| coarse adjustment | moves the stage up and down in large incremet to allow gross positioning and focusing of the objectives lens. |
| fine adjustment | moves the stage slightly to bring it to sharp focus. |
| stage clips | secure the slide in position for veiwing |
| stage | supports a slide that contain the viewed specimen |
| diaphragm | controls the amount of light allowed to pass through the object being viewed. |
| light source | provides light for viewing the image. can be reflected witha mirroe or incandescent light. |
| arm | supports the body lab |
| base | supports the microscope. |
