Microscope

TermDefinition
Revolving nose piece Holds the objective lenses.
Objective lenses 2nd set of magnifying lenses (4x, 10x, 40x).
Stage clips Hold the slide in place.
Stage Supports the slide.
Diaphragm & Condenser Controls and focuses the amount of light that passes through the slide.
Ocular lens Eyepiece. Contains a lens that magnifies 10x.
Body tube Directs light up to the ocular lens.
Arm Connects the microscope parts.
Coarse Adjustment Knob Moves the stage up and down to focus the image.
Fine Adjustment Knob Moves the stage SLIGHTLY to sharpen the image under high power.
Base Supports the microscope.
Lamp Light source. Sends light up through condenser.
Field of view What you see when you look through a microscope.
Total Magnification Ocular lens x objective lens
