Short and Long Term Environmental Changes

Short-term Change These are environmental changes that occur quickly and affect organisms immediately.
Long-term Change environmental change that occurs slowly over time and affects organisms over generations
Natural Environmental Changes An unavoidable event harmful to man and ecosystems caused by the forces of nature
Man Made Environmental Changes A disastrous event caused directly by one or more human actions
Adaptation change in the structure or function of an organism or any of its parts that results from natural selection
Overfishing deplete the stock of fish in (a body of water) by too much fishing
Exotic Species are species of plants or animals that are growing in a nonnative environment and have been moved by humans
Runoff water from rainfall that is not absorbed into the soil and instead flows into streams or lakes. Has a high likelihood of carrying pollution with it.
Coral Reefs Warm, Shallow waters beyond the coastline. Most diverse marine biome. Delicate ecosystem that is susceptible to environmental damage.
