Vocab for genetics
| Term | Definition |

| Homozygous | A genotype with two of the same alleles |
| Heterozygous | A genotype with two different alleles |
| Dominant | An allele that always is expressed (shown) if it is inherited. Use an upper-case letter |
| Recessive | An allele that is only expressed when no dominant allele is inherited. Use a lower-case letter! |
| Genotype | The genetic makeup, or allele combinations, an organisms has. |
| Phenotype | the physical appearance, or traits, an organism has. |
| Purebred | Another term for homozygous. The result of many generations of breeding only homozygous organisms together. |
| Hybrid | Another term for heterozygous. A mix of two varieties of a species. |
| Allele | A version, or form of a gene. Like a "flavor." |
| Punnett Square | A tool for predicting the probability of genotypes and phenotypes of offspring. |
