Carbon Cycle movement of carbon through organisms and the physical environment
Nitrogen Fixation performed by bacteria in the soil and lightning
lightning and bacteria convert nitrogen gas into usable nitrogen
precipitation rain, snow, and sleet
evaporation the sun's heat causes water to change from liquid to vapor
transpiration plants release water vapor from their leaves
nitrogen used to build proteins and DNA for new cells
photosynthesis produces oxygen for animals
cell respiration produces carbon dioxide for plants
decomposition returns carbon dioxide, water and nutrients to the environment
