what does the immune system do? protects the body from diseases.
What is a disease? any change that disrupts that normal function of the body that isn't an injury
What is the Germ Theory? Explain that diseases were caused by foreign bodies introduced to the bloodstream
How are diseases spread? air, physical contact, water, food, sexualy
what can cause diseases? viruses, bacteria, protists, worms, fungi
What is an antigen? a foreign body in the body
whats the first response to a antigen? to release a phahocyte to surround the antigen
what do T cells do? to destroy the antigen
what do B cells do? produce anti-bodies that are simular to the T cells to destroy other antigens in blood stream.
why don't you catch the same thing twice? body stores memory B and T cells to fight future antigens.
