mitosis vocabulary

TermDefinition
Mitosis- process in which the parent cell replicates and divides into 2 daughter cells
Cell cycle- continuous growth and division of cells
Cell division- complex series of changes in the nucleus resulting in new cells
Replication- genetic material in the nucleus of the parent cell doubles
Chromatin- materials consisting of dna and proteins
Chromatid threadlike strands in chromosomes that contain a double helix of dna
Chromosome - Dna that consist of genes
centromere- mircotubles of the spindlefiber
Cytokinesis- - cell membrane pinches and the cytoplasm divides
Centrioles- cell organelle thats in the cell division of animals only
Daughter nuclei two nuclei that result from the division of the nucleus
Clone genetically identical cells
Diploid (number) two sets of chromosomes
Asexual reproduction there's no variation Define please!
Interphase resting phase where the cell grows and replicates
Cell plate separates new cells What new cells?????
Binary fission- equal division of the cytoplasm
Grafting cutting and splicing two different plants
Cancer rapid , uncontrollable cell division
Prophase double chromosomes are visible, nuclear membrane disappears and spindle fibers appear
