Biology Test Study#3

Photosythesis And Cellular Respiration

QuestionAnswer
Where does the reaction of Photosynthesis take place? Chloroplasts
Where does the reaction of Cellular Respiration take place? MItochondria
What is a Heterotroph? An organism that obtains energy from the food they comsume. Examples: Most Animals, Humans
What is an autotroph? Anorganism that make their own food by gettting energy from the sun. Examples: Plants, Some bacteria, and algee.
What is ATP? Energy that can be stored and released in cells.
What are pigments? Light absorbing molecules
What are the 3 things inside a Chloroplast? Thykloids, Photosystems, and Stroma.
What is a thykloid? Inside a chlorplast, arranged in stacks called grana, and light dependant reactions take place here.
What is the stroma? Calvin Cycle takes place here, the space around the thykloid membranes
What is NADP+? carrier molecules, can hold 2 high-energy electrons and a hydrogen ion (H+), this holding creates NADPH.
What does the calvin Cycle produce? HIgh-energy Electrons
What are the reactants in the calvin cycle? ATP and NADPH from light dependant reations.
What is a light dependant reaction? A reaction that requires light
What are the product(s) of light dependant reactions? oxygen gas
What are the three steps of Respiration? Glycolysis, Krebs Cycle, Electron Transport Chain (if oxygen is present)
How many ATPs are produced during Respiration when oxygen is present? 36 ATPs
What is glycolysis? the process of breaking glucose in half making 6 carbon molecules into 3 carbon molecules called pyruvic acid.
What are the products in the Krebs Cycle? carbon dioxide
What is the Electron transport chain? uses high-energy electrons (from the Krebs Cycle) to convert ADP into ATP.
What are the wastes from cellular respiration? low-energy electrons and hydrogen ions
How many ATPs are produced in glycolysis without oxygen? 2 ATPs are produced per glucose
How many phosphate groups are on ADP? 2
What happens when a phosphate group in added on to ADP? ATP is produced.
What is fermentation? Glycolysis pathway when oxygen is not present, two types of
What are the two types of Fermentation? Lacti Acid Fermentation, and Alcohloic Fermentation
What are the reactants in lactic acid fermentation? pyruvic acid and NADH
What are the products in Alcoholic Fermentation? alcohol, Carbon dioxide, and Nad+
What are the reactants in Alcoholic Fermentation? Pyruvic acid and NADH
What are the products in Lactic acid Fermentation? Lactic Acid ad NAD+
What is Lactic Acid?

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
