1.) Different parts of the brain and what they do. For example: know that the thalamus is a sensory relay, the brain stem controls blood pressure and ventilation. hunger thirst and body temperature. Part required for consciousness and purposeful movement.
2.) coordination is the cerebellum
What is the connection between the two sides (the two hemispheres ) of the brain: the corpus callosum
What are the fissures: for example the central sulcus. What is on which side and the other and what it separates or also know the longitudinal fissure.
the ventricles- which ones are on the hemispheres, those are the laterals.
know what the falx cerebri is: A sheet of dura matter between the two hemispheres.
if you see a cross section of the brain like its on the book, you have to know where the cortex is, the basal ganglia, the thalamus, and hypothalamus, and the corpus callosum.
know the function of the csf (cerebral spinal fluid) : the vessels carrying the blood up to the brain, and the vessels bringing the blood back down.
What happens if your brain is deprived of blood for a few seconds: you lose consciousness, if its 4-6 minutes it start to die.
What does the blood brain barrier allows through and what it does not.
