DNA transcription and translation

QuestionAnswer
What kind of sugar does RNA have? Ribose Sugar.
What takes the place of Thymine (T) in RNA? Uracil (U)
What would be the mRNA for the sequence: AATCGCCA? UUAGCCU.
What do the bases in mRNA form? Three bases called Codons.
What does Uracil (U) pair with? Adenine (A)
Of the 3 codons, how many combinations can be made? 64
How many amino acids do the 64 combinations make? 20
What happens in transcription? It copies instructions in the DNA onto a strand of mRNA. (messenger RNA)
What happenes in translation? Builds proteins.
What is the end result of translation? Formation of a polupeptide.
