Transport

transport through a membrane

TermDefinition
cell membrane the semipermeable membrane surrounding the cytoplasm of a cell.
diffusion is the net passive movement of particles (atoms, ions or molecules) from a region in which they are in higher concentration to regions of lower concentration.
osmosis is the special case of diffusion involving water molecules.
fluid mosaic model A model that describes the structure of cell membranes.
concentration gradient is the process of particles, which are sometimes called solutes, moving through a solution or gas from an area with a higher number of particles to an area with a lower number of particles.
