| Hyperbole | a complete exaggeration to make a point |
| Onomatopoeia | the act of spelling out the way a sound sounds |
| Personification | giving human-like qualities to non-human objects or animals |
| Analogy | a comparison between two sets of items, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification |
| Alliteration | using the same sound to start two or more nearby words in a sentence |
| Verbal Irony | saying or writing one thing and meaning something different; sarcasm |
| Situational Irony | an outcome that is very different from what was expected |
