Magnification Enlarging object examined
Resolving Power Increase lenses magnification
Simple Microscope One lens not much magnification like that one would use in the jewerly store.
ocular lens or eyepiece More than one lens. Objective lens that formes enlarged images and ocular to enlarge it.
Opaque Microscope or stereoscope Used to observe things that are not see through. Has ocular and objective lenses and can only magnify for 10 or 20 times. No cellular details.
Bright field compound microscope Can see cellular most used in labs. Can be magnify 40 x 10000
Electron Microscope (EM) Ex: Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Intercellular structures. Scanning electron Microscope (SEM) 0.0005um Used to see mitochrondia chloroplast or ribosomes
Immersion Oil Used to increase resolving power. Immerse objective lens and the specimen in immersing oil to increase apeture.
Numerical Aperture (NA) Helps differentiate details of specimen by imprioving resolution
