| multi-cellular | many celled organisms |
| Autotrophic/Autotroph | organisms that are able to make their own food |
| Heterotrophic/Heterotroph | organisms that cannot make their own food |
| Respiration- | a complex series of chemical reactions that releases energy for life activities |
| Aerobic- | organisms that need oxygen for respiration |
| Anaerobic- | organisms that do not need oxygen for respiration |
| Regulation | the life activity responsible for the control and coordination of all the various activities of an organism |
| Reproduction- | the production of new organisms |
| Asexual | no genetic variation “clone/identical” |
| Sexual | 2 parents,variation organisation that is created will be different from mommy and daddy |
| Nutrition- | organisms obtain (get) and process food |
| Excretion | removal of waste materials produced in the cells as result of life activities |
| Transport | life process that includes the absorption and circulation of materials throughout an organism |
| Synthesis | living things are able to produce complex substances from simple substances |
| Growth | the increase in size and or cells in an organism |
| Metabolism- | the sum total of all the life processes taking place in an organism |
| Homeostasis- | the maintenance of a stable internal environment in spite of changes in the external environment |
