ECE1-06.7 Brain Lobes and Function
| Term | Definition |

| frontal lobe | controls concentration, planning and behavior control |
| parietal lobe | controls sensation from muscles and skin, near the cerebrum lobe |
| temporal lobe | controls short term memory, and emotion, equilibrium, word understanding |
| occipital lobe | controls vision and sight, image recognition, image perception |
| cerebellum | controls motion activities, coordination, precision, and balance |
| brain stem | is the warning system and controls alertness |
| pons | top of the brain stem |
| medulla | the connecting piece of the pons and the spinal cord |
| spinal cord | the long tubual nervous tissue and support cells that connect to the brain. |
| optic nerve | transmits visual information to the brain |
| amydala | area that helps the brain determine appropriate emotion, especially fear |
| hippocampus | controls memory movement from short term to long term and spatial memory |
| corpus callosum | connects the sides of the brain |
| Motor Cortex | planning, control, and execution of voluntary movements |
| Sensory Cortex | controls all areas associated with sensory function |
