What does quality assurance mean? correlation of US diagnoses with other clinical studies, such as radiographic, lab, surgical, & pathologic findings must be obatained
What is important to remember about document storage? Recording media MUST have a shelf life compatible with the minimum number of years required by law; typically 7 years
What does PACS stand for? Picture Archiving & Communications System
What does PACS do? stores images, allows access to images, interfaces with other hospitals records, & allows workflow management
What's the difference between EMR & EHR? an electronic medical record is info from one doctor/practice, whereas an electronic health record contains info from many providers
What is Point of Care US? used in emergency situations & is not stored or transmitted to a doctor for interpretation
Who can perform POC US? a licensed healthcare provider, not necessarily a DMS
What is a CPT code? Current Procedural Technology code that describes procedures & services performed by physicians; a 5 digit code
What is an ICD 10 code? International Classification of Disease code used to identify diseases, conditions, or injuries; 3-7 digit code
What is a whistleblower? someone who reports violations; can be internal or external; they are provided protection from the government & may get a portion of recovered money
What are the purposes of clinical competencies? to make sure the student demonstrates proficiency; a designated # must be performed per site protocol
