Biology CH19 The Importance of Leaves

epidermis the outer layers of cells of a plant

palisade layer the layer of long, green cells below the upper epidermis of a leaf
spongy layer the layer of round, green cells directly below the palisade layer of a leaf
stoma a small pore or opening in the lower epidermis of a leaf
transpiration the process of water passing out through the stomata of leaves
wilting when a plant loses water faster than it can be replaced
