diffusion the movement of a substance from an area that is crowded to an area that is less crowded
semipermeable having tiny pores or holes so that only certain molecules can pass through
osmosis the movement of water through a cell membrane
passive transport the movement of materials through a cell membrane without using energy
active transport the movement of materials through a cell membrane using energy
cellular respiration the process by which cells release energy from food
photosynthesis the process by which plant cells use carbon dioxide, water, and light energy to make food
chlorophyll a substance in chloroplasts that absorbs light energy
energy the ability to do work and cause change
