Cell Transportation
Transportation in cells
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Concentration | Mass in a given volume |
| Diffusion | Natural movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration |
| equilibrium | Concentration same throughout system |
| Osmosis | Diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane |
| Isotonic | Same strength- equal amount of solvent and solute |
| Hypertonic | above strength- more solute then solvent |
| Hypotonic | below strength- less solute, more solvent |
| Facilitated Diffusion | Forced diffusion. Low concentration to high concentration |
| Active Transport | Transport that requires energy |
| Endocytosis | Process of taking in material by means of infoldings, or pockets in cell membrane |
| Phagocytosis | extensions of cytoplasm surround a particle and "eats" it |
| Exocytosis | Membrane of vacuole surrounding material fuses with the cell membrane, forcing contents out of cell |
