what is a cell the building block of all living things
Cells the building blocks of living things.
cell membrane covers and protects the cell. It lets things pass into and out of the cell. This can be compared to your skin.
nucleus is the control center of the cell. It contains DNA.
vacuole acts like a stomach storing and breaking down materials.
mitochondria produces energy for the cell
cellular respiration the process by which cells get their energy.
How does cell respiration work cells take in oxygen and food (like sugar) and release carbon dioxide and water.
Why are cell different shapes and sizes? because they have different jobs to do.
Red blood cells small, smooth, flexible saucers because they need to move through blood vessels.
Nerve cells like the cells in your brain, have branch like structures so they can quickly send messages to all the parts of the body.
skin cells Flat cells that can be layered like shingles on a roof.
Lung Cells Cells with hair-like structures. The hairs help keep out dirt and bacteria.
tissue a group of cells that have the same job
Organs Tissues group together to form these.
Organ system Organs group together to form these.
Organism Organ systems form these.
Do Plants have tissues and organs too? Yes
A leaf an example of a plant organ.
How do cells work together to form an organism? Cell->tissue->organ->organ system->organism
organ system a group of organs working together to carry out life processes.
muscle system works with the skeletal system to move your body. The muscular system also works with your digestive system to help move food through the stomach and intestines.
