Cell Vocabulary

Cell Membrane Allows substances to move in and out of the cell
Cell Wall Found only in PLANTS - helps provide support for the cell
Mitochondria "Powerhouse" of the cell - where most of the energy (ATP) is produced for the cell
Nucleus Control center of the cell - controls the activities of the cell - (like the brain)
Ribosomes Where proteins are made / produced
Chloroplast contain a green pigment called Chlorophyll - sunlight is captured here to help plant make food.
Vacuole Mostly in plant cells - place where water is stored
Eukaryotic Cells that have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles
Prokaryotic Cells that DO Not have a Nucleus or membrane bound organelles - mainly Bacteria
