compound light microscope an instrument that magnifies small objects so they can be seen easily by using two or more lenses
electron microscope a microscope that focuses a beam of electrons to magnify objects
area the measure of the size of a surface or a region
volume the measure of the size of a body or region in 3-D space
mass a measure of the amount of matter in an object
weight a measure of the gravitational force exerted on an object
model a pattern, plan, representation, or description designed to show the structure or workings of an object, system, or concept
scale the relationship between the measurements on a model, map, or diagram and the actual measurement or distance
theory a system of ideas that explains many related observations and is supported by a large body of evidence acquired through scientific investigation
law a descriptive statement or equation that reliably predicts events under certain conditions
first aid emergency medical care for someone who has been hurt or who is sick
