protein a compound composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sometimes sulfur that is essential to living organisms.

monomer a molecule that acys as a building block for larger molecules
polymer a molecule formed by the linking of two or more monomers.
carbohydrate an organic compound composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygenatoms attached in approximately a 1:2:1 ratio; provides the majority of energy to humans.
nucleotide a monomer that makes up a nucleic acid; consists of three pars: a five-carbon sugar, a nitrogen-containing base, and a phosphate group.
amino acid a compound that contains and amino group(-NH2), a carboxyl group (-COOH), and a side group; building bnlocks of proteins.
enzyme a protein that speeds up the chemical reaction of cell to biologically useful rates.
catalyst a substance that speed up a chemical reaction without being changed by the reaction.
nucleic acid a large, complex biologiacl molecule made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus; contains hereditary information
