Skeletal System (Joint Movements)

MovementDirection
Flexion Bending the leg at the knee or fingers
Extension Straightening the leg at the knee or fingers
Plantar flexion Toe dancing
Dorsiflexion bending the foot up toward the leg
Hyperextension moving the hand toward the upper surface of the wrist
Abduction Movement away from the midline of the body
Adduction Movement toward the midline of the body
Inversion turning the sole of the foot inward so that it faces the opposite foot
Eversion turning the foot outward
Supination turning the hand so that the palm faces upward
Pronation turning the hand so that the palm faces downward
Circumduction combination of movements as in twirling a hula hoop on the wrist
