Food Webs

Food chain a simplified arrangement of who eats who (how energy is transferred from organism to organism) in a community or ecosystem assuming that each organism only eats one type of food
Food web an extension of the food chain idea using a web-like diagram to show the network of who eats who (how energy is transferred from organism to organism) in a community or ecosystem recognizing that each organism eats many types of food
Producer organisms that produce their own food through photosynthesis or other chemical means (ie. Plants, algae, photosynthesizing bacteria and plankton, etc.)
Consumer organisms that consume other organisms rather than producing their own food (ie. Everything but producers)
