| President | Title often given to the head of government (state) in presidential democracy |
| Prime minister | Title often given to the head of government in parlament democracy |
| Chancellor | Title often given to the head of government in parlament democracy |
| Legislature | Law making body |
| Bi-cameral | Having a legislature divided into an upper and lower class |
| Presidential democracy | Citizens elect both members of legislative branch and executive branch |
| Parlament democracy | Citizens elect members to legislative branch - then members of legislative branch select the head of state in the executive branch |
