| absorption | Is the process by which usable materials from food called end products of digestion, are taken into the cells and fluids of the body. |
| aerobic organisms | Organisms that need oxygen for respiration. |
| anaerobic organisms | organisms that don't need oxygen for their reparatory process. |
| digestion | Process that changes food into a form that can be used by the cell. |
| egestion | process that removes undigested materials from the body |
| excretion | Removal of waste materials produced in the cells as a result of metabolism. |
| growth | is an increase in the size and /or number of cells of an organism. |
| heterotroph | organisms that are not able to make their own food |
| ingestion | when food is taken in from the environment |
| metabolism | is the sum of all life processes taking place in an organism. |
| nutrients | usable part of food |

| transport | is the life process that includes absorption and circulation of materials throughout an organism |
