Life Functions

TermDefinition
absorption Is the process by which usable materials from food called end products of digestion, are taken into the cells and fluids of the body.
aerobic organisms Organisms that need oxygen for respiration.
anaerobic organisms organisms that don't need oxygen for their reparatory process.
digestion Process that changes food into a form that can be used by the cell.
egestion process that removes undigested materials from the body
excretion Removal of waste materials produced in the cells as a result of metabolism.
growth is an increase in the size and /or number of cells of an organism.
heterotroph organisms that are not able to make their own food
ingestion when food is taken in from the environment
metabolism is the sum of all life processes taking place in an organism.
nutrients usable part of food
organisms living things
transport is the life process that includes absorption and circulation of materials throughout an organism
