Climate Change

TermDefinition
Weather Short term precipitation, temperatures, etc that can change rapidly and is hard to predict.
Climate Long term weather patterns that characterize an area.
Climate change The long term change of the Earth's climate. Takes hundreds of years.
Native Organisms Organisms that are naturally found in an area.
Non-native Organisms Organisms that live in a certain area where they are not naturally found.
Ocean Acidification The decrease in the pH of the ocean.
Glacier slowly moving mass or river of ice formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow on mountains or near the poles.
Climate refugees People that have been displaced from their homes because of the changing climates; usually do to either rising sea levels, extreme weather or drought.
Climate Scientists Scientists that study Earth's Climate.
Invasive Species Organisms that live in a certain area where they are not naturally found and they upset the natural ecosystem of the area.
Greenhouse gases water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone.
Salinity The amount of salt in the water.
Turbidity The level of cloudiness the water is.
