Growth

QuestionAnswer
Period during which cells recover from stress and synthesize the components required for growth. Lag phase
Cells which can grow at low temperatures - eg, below 10oC. Psychrophiles.
Cells which grow low concentrations of oxygen - 2-10%. Microaerophilic.
Growth rate of a culture which increases from 10,000 to 100,000 cells in 5 hours. 1.53
Cells which can grow in high concentrations of salts. Halophiles.
Cells which can grow in the absence of oxygen but grow better in its presence. Facultitive anaerobe.
