Organelles

names of organelles and their functions

TermDefinition
Nucleus Directs all of the cell's activities.
Cell membrane protects the cell and allows water and food in and out of the cell.
cell wall Protects the plant cell's and gives it strength.
Chlorplasts Capture energy from the sun and make food.
Vacuole Stores water and some other materials.
mitochondria The cell's energy is produced here.
Lysosmes Break down food and worn out cell's.
Ribosomes Factories that produce protein.
Endoplasmic reticulum Like freeway carries material.
Golgi bodies takes material from the ER,packages it and sends it out the cell.
Cytoplasm Holds the organelles.
